A Constructed World

A Constructed World (ACW) is a collaborative project initiated in 1993 by Australian artists Jacqueline Riva and Geoff Lowe. Based in Melbourne, Paris and Milan, ACW work with a variety of media from painting to video and performance. They also self-publish an art magazine entitled ‘Art Fan’. Jacqueline Riva and Geoff Lowe often invite visitors to participate in workshops, to propose artworks for their exhibitions, or simply to share a meal with ACW in the gallery space, blurring the traditional distinction between artist and audience.

Recent projects and solo exhibitions include “Saisons Increase part 1: Flowing Upwards” and “Saisons Increase part 2: Wild Weather” (a four season year-long project by ACW, commissioned by Charlotte Laubard) at CAPC Museum of Contemporary Art, Bordeaux (2008), “Le Feu scrupuleux” (commissioned by Sylvie Boulanger) at Cneai Chatou, France (2008), “Increase Your Uncertaintly” at ACCA, Melbourne (2007) and “Schifanoia” at N.O. Gallery, Milan and four private apartments (2007). ACW’s work has also been shown as part of “Greenwashing. Environment: Perils, Promises and Perplexities” at Foundation Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin (2008), “Locally Localized Gravity” at ICA, Philadelphia (2007) and the “Emergency Biennale” at Vancouver International Centre for Contemporary Asian Art and the Riga City Exhibition Hall, Latvia (2006).

ACW, Jacqueline Riva and Geoff Lowe are represented by Uplands Gallery, Melbourne and Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery, Sydney.
