Chris Evans
Chris Evans (b.1967) lives and works in London and Berlin. Using a wide range of outcomes from sculpture, etchings, events, mass produced magazine inserts and audio recordings, he questions the relationship between artists, institutions and corporate bodies. For Cop Talk (2005/2006), he invited representatives from national police forces to give presentations in different art schools in Europe. The UK Corporate Sculpture Consultancy (2000) project was based on conversations with managing directors of a Leeds industrial park. Evans asked them to think about a sculpture that would represent best the character of their company. The resulting works were exhibited at the Henry Gemini Sculpture Park. Royal Loyalty (2006) takes on the concept of a sculpture park. Evans bought a piece of land in Estonia and asked the directors of industrial companies to imagine a radical way to represent loyalty. The projects were then executed by local artists, once responsible for constructing Soviet era monuments. Further constantly updated info on his projects projects can be seen on his website www.chrisevans.info.
